Our Vision
Scottish Epilepsy Initiative was founded in 2004 by a group of doctors and scientists. For more information on the Trustees please see “Who We Are”.
Scottish Epilepsy Initiative plans to raise money to contribute to a range of potential projects with specific emphasis on supporting the development of:
- Interdisciplinary research in epilepsy in Scotland encompassing scientific, clinical and service-related projects
- Development of enhanced consultations for people with problems related to epilepsy in Scotland using modern telemedicine technologies
- Educational programmes that meet the needs of healthcare professionals in Scotland working with people with epilepsy
- A centre of excellence with diagnostic and treatment facilities, including surgery, for people with epilepsy in Scotland
Scottish Epilepsy Initiative works in Scotland for people with epilepsy. Each week another 50 Scots will be diagnosed with the disorder. Epilepsy is a distressing, debilitating condition which in many cases seriously affects quality of life. Epilepsy does not respect social or financial barriers. Quite simply, it can happen to anyone at any time.
Our mission is to make life better for people in Scotland with epilepsy.
We aim to do this by supporting:
- clinical and basic research
- education and training
- telemedicine and other clinics
- a centre of excellence
