Fundraising team trek 100km across the Sahara Desert for Scottish Epilepsy Initiative
Over £26,000 raised to help people with epilepsy in Scotland
On Friday 19th February our dedicated group of fundraisers set of for Morocco after a year of fundraising and training.
The challenge to walk 100km across the scorching Sahara Desert was meet with gusto and enthusiasm. The highlight of the trip was to place a life size model of a traditional telephone box on top of Chegaga, the highest sand dune in the desert.
Despite the 40 degree heat the team pulled together and managed to plant the phone box on the ridge of Chegaga before making the steep decent and completing the 100km walk.
This challenge has attracted much needed attention to the needs of people with epilepsy in Scotland and received much local and national press coverage. Thanks to STV for filming our departure from Glasgow Airport.
The funds raised will help to implement our innovative Valentine Project for young people with epilepsy in Scotland.
