A Centre of Excellence
People with epilepsy in Scotland deserve to access the best investigation and treatment.
A Centre of Excellence in Scotland is proposed that will
- bring together expertise and facilities to provide modern investigation using “state-of-the-art” brain imaging, electroencephalographic (EEG) and videotelemetry equipment.
- make more widely available the expertise of consultants in neurology, neurosurgery, paediatric neurology, clinical pharmacology, psychiatry, psychology and nursing to enhance consultations either directly in the Centre or at other hospitals/clinics throughout Scotland.
- facilitate the development of a national epilepsy surgery programme with more efficient investigations and more operations to meet the needs of the population.
